Stories We Love: “A Small, Good Thing” by Raymond Carver

Jeremiah Chamberlin, Editor of Fiction Writers Review, was kind enough to let me post a piece on a Ray Carver story that has been lodged in my mind since I first read it many moons ago. It was strange to return to the story “A Small, Good Thing”, which is longer than I remember it being and more distended and enigmatic. May, it turns out, was short story month, although I seemed to have missed all the parades. But Fiction Writers Review ran a series of posts on writers’ favorite stories and they are quite fun to read, so check them out.
